(Both of us have 6 months until we can take our licensing exam so that we can have big kid jobs). - Joshua started his night shift clinical at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center - KayLee started her internship with LDS Family Services - Joshua decided he has narrowed his interests down to emergency/trauma or pediatrics. - KayLee decided she wants to continue to work with pornography addictions, couples, and families. - We're still living @ the Beehive Home and enjoying it. We might move in December if our schedules don't fit and if Joshua can get a job. Otherwise we'll be here at least until April.

My Best Friend's Wedding

We got to spend August 5th- 12th in Mesa, Arizona. We house hopped with relatives and friends. It was a great vacation!!

Thank you Alayne Favreau, Donna Robinson, Rochelle Cisneros, Becca Johnson and everyone who helped put the bridal shower together. Decorations were adorable, food was great, and the company perfect!

We got to go to Tucson to see Kelsey and Jeffs new apartment! LOVE their newlywed nest!

I got to help with Kelsey's hair for her pictures the day before the wedding.

This is a shot of her dress after it was made modest. So pretty!. I got to help get Kelsey in and out of her dress for pictures, the temple, and the reception (that was a lot of buttons).

The day before the wedding Joshua ironed the toole on almost all of the chair covers for hours. All of the Relief Society ladies who were helping were very impressed by his diligence and told me that I had "found a keeper." I think they were jealous ;).

Melissa and Amy (Kelsey's Aunts) and I came up with this decoration for the back of the chairs. It was a lot of work, but something we could do to help with the reception.

The reception was beautiful thanks to the help of so many Kingsborough Park Ward Ladies and Kathleen's (Kelsey's mom) creative genius. (Kathleen planned and execution all the decorations for my reception as well).

My best friend Kelsey Thomas just got engaged and will be Kelsey Kartchner August 12, 2011. I am so happy for her and her fiance Jeff. I Love to See the Temple

A year or so ago we set a goal to go to each of the Utah temples before we leave Utah. We have done really bad about going to the temple the last four or five months but we went yesterday FINALLY. Bad news- my temple dress doesn't fit any more (it will by August!) Good news we've officially been to 8 of the 13 temples.

The Neilsen's, Ian, Alicia, David, Joshua and KayLee all went swimming/boating in Deadcow Reservoir.

After that we went to the Alton Dance and went to Kanab to sleep. The next morning July 3rd we went to Church in Alton. Uncle (Bishop) Norman let us know that the normal 176 member ward had grown to 643. Needless to say that church building was sweltering and packed. Joshua even saw a guy from his nursing class. If you've ever been to Alton or even know where it is you'd be surprised by the number of people there. (googlemaps.com Alton, Utah). After church we snacked all day in Alton and hung out at the Alton house napping and enjoying a lazy Sunday. We went to Kanab that evening and watched fireworks from the yard and talked on the back porch until 12:00pm with Ian and Alicia. Monday we went to the Kanab 4th of July parade and then had to drive home. IT was wonderful! It was almost a full family reunion. Too bad my family was here...

Yeah I was just a titch jealous.

KayLee's 23rd Birthday Adventures
Getting our stuff together.

Driving up to Squaw Peak with our friends Natalie and Jeremy Glauser.

It started raining as soon as we got there. So Jeremy used his "man scout" powers to construct a barrier so we could build a fire. We were able to cook our hobo dinners over the fire. We also had Nutella smores- best idea ever!

For a brief moment the clouds parted and we got to see the red sunset.

The view looked pretty cool at night too.

We were pretty tired in the morning. It was still raining so after taking a few pictures we went to the Glauser's to make breakfast.

That evening Joshua took me out to all you can eat sushi lunch at Sushi Ya. I like Sokura better, but none the less- it was delish. Just looking at these pictures makes me crave it more.

My mom sent me this package! It was a surprise because my Mac computer that I got last year was for last birthday/graduation and this birthday also. She sent some books and some of my old movies.

Next weekend we are going to California with Sara and Larry and their four boys Wayne, Austin, Luke, and Bret. We are counting that trip as mother's day (May 10th), my birthday (May 27th), our anniversary (June 7th), Father's day (June 19th), and Joshua's birthday (August 20th). Obviously we'll still have to go out for dinner to celebrate, but no big presents. We like trips better anyway :D.

Summer Self-Therapy...

As I've started helping my clients work on difficult things that they want to change to make their lives better, I realize that I really want to work on some of my own "stuff". I know this is cheesy but I think that by putting it out there I will feel more committed. This summer I am working on...

1. EXERCISE.

I will go for a walk/jog or do dance aerobics once a day for at least 30 min. I am going to "train" for a 5K that is going on at the end of August in the name of Wasatch Mental Health. I plotted out a 3.2 mile route by my house. I want to be able to jog the whole thing without stopping.

One thing that will be a barrier for me from doing this is my negative thought processes about exercise. It is really hard to just get going. In order to combat this I will "play out the tape" and remind myself how cool it will be to say I ran a 5K. Also I will remind myself of wanting to lose weight.

2. DRIVE STICK.

I will practice driving on Saturday nights with Joshua. I want to be able to drive on the the busy roads by the end of the summer.

One barrier for driving stick is my anxiety about doing it. I will do deep breathing and calm down if I get too overwhelmed. Also, if I get really nervous thinking about driving on a busy road I will remind myself that I am taking it one day at a time.

3. SPIRITUALITY.

I will do this by being more "religious" so that I can keep up my "spirituality." I am doing this by reading my scriptures and saying my prayers by myself after our couple scriptures study and couple prayer.

One thing that will get in the way of doing this is being lazy or too tired. I will read my scriptures and say my prayers at 10:00 every night so that I'm not too tired.

4. READ.

I want to read a non-school book a week for the rest of the summer.

One thing that will get in the way of this is watching TV instead of reading. I will combat this by reading with Joshua instead of watching TV and not getting into another TV series this summer.

Joshua's Nursing cohort had an end of the year BBQ.

Speaking of school, I (KayLee) got my report card back and 5 A's and 1 A-. I was a tad bummed about the A- since that classes seemed pretty subjective (school social work) but all in all I am VERY pleased. I think my GPA is back to the 3.9 range. Joshua doesn't have all of his grades back but is anticipating 4 A's and 1 A- (we'll keep you up dated).

Really fat beagle named Bobby. He tipped over a table to eat a pizza. It made me laugh.
Since school got out we decided to take a trip. Joshua parents live in Phoenix and my grandparents live in Kanab (half way between phoenix and spanish fork). So we drove down and met them for the weekend.

This is what we did the WHOLE weekend sit and sit and sit. It was too cold to hike or fish, and we felt like sleeping and watching movies and reading (my three favorite things).

In two weeks our married ward will desolve and we will have to go to a family ward. To the Primary!! (We are convinced that we will all be in the primary in our new wards.) Joshua is happy though because he has been in contact with the stake organist (who just happens to be in our new ward). He often practices on this organ and REALLY hopes he gets to be the ward organist. I would LOVE to be the ward chorister - BEST-CALLING-EVER. But... I think I may have to accept my fate as primary teacher.

Homework, Hair, and March Madness

For March Madness I did a bracket against my cohort- Thanks to Ohio state oh and all my final four teams losing I'm sitting at around an 86% blah blah blah. I was 95% for like 30 seconds in there, but now I"m like sixth place.

Also we went to Phoenix for a spontaneous visit. Since we didn't have a camera yet we didn't take any pictures. On the trip we got to spend time with Joshua's parents, grandparents, brother and sister in law, and cousins. We also got to hang out w/ my BFF Kelsey and her family it a huge blast from the past- and way fun! Joshua parents bought us a new camera THAT WE LOVE (a christmas/kaylee birthday/joshua birthday/kaylee graduation present). Its very fun to have a camera that has batteries that don't die every 30 seconds. Here are some of the pictures we have taken since we got it.

We were little 15 year olds with a 10:00 curfew haha Luckily our mom's believed us when they came looking for us at 1am.

I asked Joshua to an 80's dance. I forgot to take pictures, but essentially I took chocolate kisses and made a trail from outside into the room on the floor. At the end of the train was a note with a poem that said, "Now that I've kissed the ground you walk on, will you answer me this one question? For a night of fun and romance, will you go with me to the 80's dance?"

To answer me Joshua got us these two new fishes.

Christmas Time is Here

For Christmas break, Joshua and I spent a week together. We had Christmas on our own and had a great time. We mostly spent the week sleeping and watching Monk (our new favorite TV show) on Netflix. We were dorks and didn't take pictures of opening our presents, but here is the Christmas tree.

The second week of Christmas break I got to fly to Florida to visit my family. Ben just got home from a mission and Darin is leaving in February so it was the last chance for the next two years for all of us to be together. I had a great time.

Christmas is always big at my house. Even though everyone only gets two or three presents there are usually 20-30 presents under the tree. Oh and those animals under the tree are our stockings (family tradition). I have a pink cat and Joshua has a blue lion but they are at our house... I think Darin's brown dog is missing also.

This is a pretty good picture of the first 6 kids -missing me of course. My mom made the tshirts for christmas and Grandma Pugh always sends pj pants.

For thanksgiving we drove down to AZ to visit Joshua's family. The ride was scary there and back.

This month has been a busy and exciting one. I didn't take enough pictures, but here are some of the things we have been up to :)

Joshua and I have been studying a lot to the end of the semester. Joshua often teaches his lessons to Elder P.J.

Joshua took me on a date to Color Me Mine. We made these cups.

We also had a group date with Kelsey Thomas, Matt (her bf), Shannon Adams Stimpson, and her husband Curtis. We made chicken Alfredo and salad and played games until 1am. It was really fun!

The last couple of weeks I decided to go try out for the community theater the Music Man. I tried out for a chorus member. I got called back as a Pick-A-Little Lady and I actually got a part. I am just one of the PAL chorus!

Sara and Larry Dunn came into town! We drove up to Salt Lake and had dinner with them Friday night. It was good to see them. I miss my Dunn family!

Sara and RyLee Noyes just moved to Richfield. We went to their house for Conference and Easter.

I didn't take very many good pictures. Sara just got a really cute hair cut and you can see her little pregnant bump.

Shannon's husband, Curtis, plays the trombone in the orchestra. (That's how Joshua found out about it).

Happy Valentimes!!!

Joshua took me to his institute dance on Friday. They had dinner and a big band with trumpets and saxophones and singers. They played a lot of jazz tunes that I like. We had a lasagna dinner.

On Saturday night we went to the Stake Dance. Our Bishop plays rhythm guitar in the band that played there. They had picture taking there, but we looked the same. Pretend like the second picture was the second dance. After that dance we went to Shannon and Curtis' house to play a game called Headbandz. Here is a picture of the game.

Sunday morning I woke up to pretty roses!!

Grandma and Papa and my mom and Dad sent us fun Vday stuff.
I got Joshua M'nM's and that note.

This morning we sent off on an adventure to go see the hot springs in Spanish Fork.

We got lost.

We found out the road was closed so we had to walk 4 miles to the trail head and 2 miles to the hot springs. So... we only walked around, had our lunch, and then we went home.

I was sad we missed then hot springs, so I came home and took a 30 min shower.

And that was our Vday.

We may be slackers.... but at least we're persistent

For those of you who received a letter in the mail with the address to our blog, and came to this website for answers, here is the explanation… okay so the excuse.

Well, we got married, had a wonderful week long honeymoon in Pinetop, AZ (thanks to Joshua's Aunt Stephanie), and then came home and started school right away. We wrote all of our “thank you’s “ for our wedding because we were really happy that everyone had been so generous in helping us start our life together. Then we had to pay tuition, books, etc. and the cost of stamps went up, and we didn’t send them. Then after awhile we totally forgot. We went along on our merry way for one and a half years. Then we decided to move to Spanish Fork. In the moving process, all of the letters were recovered. So… I had to unseal them, insert recent pictures, reseal them, and send them. Anywho… we may be slackers but at least we’re persistent.

So a BIG HUGE GINORMOUS thank you to everyone who helped, attended, sent presents, and supported us as we started our life together.

Been married: 19 months 4 days.

Place of residence: Beehive Homes in Spanish Fork

Jobs: Joshua a night manager at Beehive Homes, KayLee a Teachers Assistant for SFL 491: A theories course, and obersevational coder (research assistant) for the Flourishing Families program at BYU

Pets: Bruce and Doug our attack fishies

Majors: KayLee Marriage, family, human, development, English Minorand Joshua: Pre-Nursing

Time left in school: KayLee 1 semester and 1 term left of undergrad 2 years graduate school, Joshua 3 years and 1 semester undergrad 2 years graduate school

In the last year and a half we have really been living it up!

We went fishing and camping and vacationing all summer and going to school and work nonstop.

Joshua finished an Accounting Certificate at LDS Business college and then decided that he wanted to do Nursing instead and transferred to UVU. Since then, he's been working on his prerec courses and completely dominating theme. I just turned in my graduate school applications (in marriage and family therapy and social work) to BYU and will soon find out if I will be going to graduate school for the next two years.

We LOVE being married and are just enjoying the opportunity to attend school and enjoy young married-hood.

Bruce and Doug

We just added two new members of our family!

This is Doug

He is very very pretty and small- so he is hard to photograph.

The deep blue fish is named Bruce.

They are our attack fish.
They guard our texts books that cost a fortune
(do not be fooled by the "used" stickers pasted on every single one).

They have big tanks to fill (especially Doug) because we loved Trooper, but Bruce and Doug have already begun to heal our hearts...

And of course... didn't take any pictures. So we'll have to wait til Mom sends me some. In the meantime- here is a brag. My mom made us this for Christmas.

It goes perfectly with our room "theme" (do I even know what a theme is hah). Also... huge thanks to all the peoples in our ward that helped with the move and getting is to and from the airport!

Saga of the Posessed Microwave

Okay most of what I have to say has nothing to do with haunted microwaves... but I thought it made one of those funky titles that all those cutesy everyday bloggers would have. Anywho, we have now successfully completed 2 days at our new work/home. Today we had FHE and some people came with their two little kids and it was really fun (the kids were so cute!) The girl was a five year old with a really good voice. She was so cute. The ladies really enjoyed the music and the children. I think this job (at least so far) will be really good. I'm still scared that I"ll have to touch old lady poo- I'm sure I will at some point- and I don't want to. But otherwise I really like talking with and getting to know the ladies. They are all such sweethearts. One of them is so sarcastic she is such a character, and even the ones who can't really hear or understand what we're saying are really sweet and you just have to love them. I never though I'd like this job this much (and who knows this may be the most I ever like it, but I'm still happy with it right now). One of the problems here is that there is WAY too much food. WAY too much. Haha and the workers are like "eat more eat more so I don't have to put it away." We really like all the day time workers we've met so far and all of the family members of the ladies just seem awesome. Tomorrow we are getting an additional lady- so we hope we like her and can get to know her. One sad part of the job is- even though we were trained one day and then have been working here two full days a lot of the ladies were asking who we were today. Its kinda sad because we really like them, but we know they will forget us after awhile. So... the story behind the possessed Microwave. So the Microwave here- is weird. It just like shuts off while you're cooking, or turns off at random times. So far it hasn't turned on randomly, but I'm waiting. I'm convinced it's alive. I'll report back to tell you if it ever turns on by itself. I know it will... one of these days. I will have to give it a name. I have this thing about naming inanimate objects- if you don't know already. For instance- my laptop is named Lappy (stolen from Homestarrunner.com). My printer (that is a paperavore) is name Printy. My little fan (that is sadly now in storage-- I will miss you!!) is named Hawaiian Breeze. My blankets (when me and my sister Melissa shared a bed) were Browny and Bluey. My printer at CGSC was named Gary (because it was as slow as a snail- like from Sponge Bob). I named Joshua's car in high school- Herold (after Herold Hill... because the car was definitely a music man). Although if I remember properly it already had a name- you'll have to ask Paul. I also named our car, back when Joshua first got it, and I named here Shelia. Right now I have the name Bula on my mind... so we'll see what gets named Bula. Maybe if the Microwave continues to act like a senile woman it can be named Bula. Anywho- I don't think I have much else to say- so I'll sign off!
